Brancaster Beach, Beach Road, Brancaster, Norfolk, PE31 8BW
Having been to Old Hunstanton, we found another beach just along the coast called Brancaster. It is a National Trust estate, the car park is not managed by National Trust, so is a pay and display. It is however free if you have a blue badge.
This meant an early start in the morning. The kids were up by 5:25, don’t know how they managed it, they don’t manage it for school mornings.
Car was loaded, and we were gone by 6:30am. We arrived at the car park by 9:45, and on the beat just gone 10 after a change of footwear, everybody in beach shoes.
The tide was out and going further, it goes out a long way. The beach is quiet and you can walk for ages. So we did, kids collecting shells (one of them had that many, he looked like he had a baby kangaroo in his pocket). There is a ship wreck on the beach but cannot be reached on foot.
Without realising we had been walking for about 2 hours before we to back to the car for a lunch.
After lunch we went the other way long the beach. There is a space for people who want to kite surf (we stood for ages watching them). At the end of the beach there is land managed by RSPB.
Again without realising we were out for another couple of hours, more shells were collected, and plenty of playing in the soft golden sand.
We left at 2:45, after an early start and long day. It was well worth it and we will be back, next time with a paddleboard and some wet suits.
