A Royal Romp at Powis Castle and Deer Park

We decided to take a break from our usual sitcom marathons and experience a slice of the past, peppered with a touch of wilderness, at the majestic Powis Castle and Deer Park. Here’s how our historical hilarity unfolded.

Step into the Past with Panache

Upon arrival, the imposing red sandstone fortress seemed to playfully whisper tales of yore. As we crossed the threshold, we were transported to centuries past. Each portrait might just wink at you if you stared long enough.

Every corner told a story, and we couldn’t help but chuckle at the thought of ancient lords and ladies trying to navigate Netflix had they been plopped into the 21st century.

A Garden of Earthly Delights

The gardens, oh the gardens! They were an Eden with a sense of humor. Manicured hedges played hide and seek with marble statues. They seemed poised to spring to life and join us as the sixth member of our lively group. With peacocks (and pea hens) freely roaming the grounds.

The highlight of this green escapade was a game of historical tag we invented. Each of us assumed the persona of a famous historical figure, and we darted through terraces and orangeries with all the grace and speed of courtiers late for a royal banquet.

Doe, a Deer, a Female Deer

But what is a visit to Powis Castle without some quality time with the local deer populace? The Deer Park invited us into a sanctuary where time stood still, and the deer — oh, they were the lords and ladies now!

We treaded gently, so as not to disturb their peaceful munching. It seemed like these furry residents enjoyed our company, striking poses and prancing around as if to say, “Welcome to our humble abode.”

Wrapping It Up with a Bow (and Arrow?)

As the sun began to set, casting a golden hue over the landscape, we felt like we were extras in a period film, sans the heavy costumes. Our visit to Powis Castle and Deer Park was more than just a tick on the bucket list — it was like stepping into a whimsical painting where history high-fived nature.

We left with memory cards full and hearts even fuller, laughing all the way home about our royal romp. Until next time, Powis Castle, keep those stories coming and the deer prancing!
